A long 2 hour jungle slog from the main town in Ilha Grande takes you to now deserted ghst town of Dios Rios, formally a prison for 1200 inmates until it closed in 1994. The Brazilian tourist board eventually came to its senses and thought that such a beautiful island was better spent for holidaymakers.
Entrance to the workshops, where everthing the inmates were made to do is simply left as it was abandoned some 13 years ago.
