Huaraz

After 3 weeks in cusco, some extra time out with mother nature was definately much needed. Huaraz is set in the Cordillia Blanca in middle Peru. It is the second highest mountain range after the Himalayas with 22 peaks over 6000m. To get back to nature we took a 4 day trek with a guide and a couple of mules, camping out in the middle of winter, very cold! The route is known as the Santa Cruz trek. We started at 3200m and climbed to a highest point of just under 5000m which is about the same altitude as Everest base camp!
